The Small Enterprise Development Agency (Seda) invites media to its fourth annual Global Incubation Day. The event will also celebrate the new working partnership between Seda and the Secopa Incubator.
Incubation has been identified by government as a key priority area in facilitating transformation of the economy to promote industrial development, investment, competitiveness and employment creation. Incubation Day, therefore, aims to build awareness of the services offered by Seda’s Technology Incubators – through which incubation services are provided - as well as showcase the successful enterprises that have come out of the incubation programme so as to encourage other start-up small enterprises to make use of the incubation services.
The Deputy Minister of the Department of Trade & Industry, Ms Elizabeth Thabethe and the member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Economic Development, Councillor R. Mathang are expected to attend.
The Technology Business Incubators assist small enterprises find their feet in a protected environment, free of many elements that contribute to small enterprises failing in their first two years of operation. There are currently 42 Seda supported Incubators around the country focusing on, among others, the manufacturing, construction, information communication technology, mining beneficiation, agriculture, biotechnology, Chemistry and jewellery sectors.
Incubation Day will be hosted simultaneously in Eastern Cape, Gauteng and Mpumalanga. The Gauteng event will take place as follows:
